I'm definitely a bit disappointed there isn't more availability for the mods currently but if I do get SE I have trouble believing that more mods won't come to it in the future. A large portion of the interest was the DLC which I never got around to playing and the improved graphics for PC (via mods) which you seem to indicate are functional. And with some effort and a good computer, it can be made to look just as good or better than Special Edition. It's got more tools available and has the mods I like the most, regardless of its occasional stability issues. If I personally had to pick one edition, I'd probably go with Classic. (For example, houses, dungeons, texture mods.) I'd recommend SE to people who aren't going to spend a lot of time modding, or who care only about mods that don't rely on SKSE. Plus, SE is more stable and looks better out of the box. On the other hand, Special Edition has plenty of mods already, many ported from Classic and many original content. There's an old version of SkyUI that kinda works in Special Edition, but not all of its features are available. Without SKSE, many great Classic mods can't be fully ported to SE, including some of my personal favorites like SkyUI (interface overhaul that's practically essential for PC users) and Requiem (the roleplaying overhaul). Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) is supposed to be in the works, but according to the website there's no estimated time frame for a beta release. I did see one in the rift that description mentioned not having much pre placed clutter I'll look for the link later, but it was called "Simple fall home in the rift" I believe. The Special Edition scene is behind, yes. then install each and check them out for yourself. Your best bet would be to go down the list in the player home category, and download the ones that are in an area that you're looking at having a house in. I installed and tested out over 30 in the last week, at first I just wanted something to display unique items, pretty easy to narrow that down, but one after the other had something that made me keep looking at other ones. I thought of asking a similar question recently, but it really comes down to preference, and they all have small differences that even if you could nail a group of them down to a similiar feature that you're looking for, each of those would have completely different vibes to them.
